I’m glad you like my designs!
Clients are always welcome at my workshop, Molewood Heights to look at finished pieces, work in progress and to discuss ideas. Don’t worry if you’re overseas or too far away to visit. We can successfully develop ideas and choose fabrics/colour themes without meeting in person. All clients who I’ve worked with in this way in the past have been thrilled with the results! The system I use usually includes some or all of the following stages but the key element is flexibility – my clients can have as much or as little involvement as they wish and all suggestions are welcome:
1. We discuss general ideas by phone/email, including style of chair/sofa/chaise, colours, favourite fabrics, the setting for the piece.
2. The client sends any photos that might be relevant, or provide inspiration. This could be a photo of the room or setting for the chair, photos of other favourite pieces, photos of paintings/prints which will be in the same room – this all helps with establishing a colour palette to work from.
3. If there are particular fabrics the client wants included in the patchwork, they can be posted to me. I can work the patchwork theme around these pieces.
4. If I’m sourcing the chair for the client, I will send photos of some pieces, either from my stock or sourced specifically for the project. I can send hi res images so the client can look in detail.
5. At this point, I’ll have a clear idea of colours and fabrics for the project. I then select a range of fabrics from my stock or if necessary source fabrics which fit the theme. I’ll post a range of swatches of fabric to the client, for their comments. This will confirm the colour palette to work from.
6. If the piece features painted wood, I can source paint colours to fit with the client’s decor.
7. When the piece is complete, I’ll send hi res images before arranging delivery.
As I said, commissions don’t always include all of these stages. Sometimes we just have a general discussion on colour and the client prefers if I create a piece which I think will ‘fit’.
